Dear HKSTS members,
It is a great pleasure for me to invite you to the 2nd conference of Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies (HKSTS), to be held in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) on December 6, 1997. The 1st conference which was held in The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 1996 was a great success. I would like to thank the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Hai Yang of HKUST, for putting together a first-rate conference. We hope that we can build upon last year's success, and bring you another exciting conference in HKPU in 1997.
In an effort to better predict the future travel demand, to diagnose the transportation problems, and to provide sound solution and comprehensive planning for transportation, we will bring together academics, government officials, and industrial specialists at this conference. We aim to stimulate dialogue and cooperation between the government and the private sector, to provide government-private sector collaboration, and to provide better channels of communication and dissemination of research conducted in academia to the private sector and the government. We believe the participants of the 1997 HKSTS conference in HKPU will help to further these goals. Please refer to the Announcement section of the Main Contents. We are looking forward to your participation in this conference.
On the other hand, Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) is planning the second international conference to be held on October 29-31, 1997, in Seoul, Korea. For further detail information regarding the EASTS conference, please contact the local Organizing Committee :
