I am delighted to inform you that the Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies (HKSTS) has been formed on 9 February 1996. The objectives of HKSTS are to foster and support excellence in transportation research and practice, to stimulate professional interchange in all aspects of transportation, and to provide a network and forum for people involved in transportation studies to interact with each other for exchanging ideas and information on the latest development of transportation technology. The primary activities of HKSTS are :

• to organise a symposium on transportation studies by gathering researchers and practitioners in Hong Kong about once a year;
• to conduct seminars and workshops;
• to publish technical material and news;
• to establish a transportation database easily accessible by all members of the Society.

There are two types of memberships of the Society:

Knowing that you are actively involved in transportation studies, we cordially invite you to join the HKSTS. Enclosed please find a membership form <Download>. If you know someone else who might be interested in joining the Society, please duplicate the form and send to them. Your help would be greatly appreciated. On the other hand, I've the pleasure of informing you that the 3rd Conference of HKSTS will be held on 5th December 1998. Enclosed is the announcement and call for papers for your information.
